Day 5: Millennium Park

Chicago is gorgeous during the summer! Which is why we want to get the students’ out as much as possible to experience what the city has to offer. Today, we visited Millennium Park, where landscape architect, professor Barbara Geiger gave us a tour and history of Chicago and explained how Millennium Park has come to be as it is. The kids sketched around the park and even got to enjoy the water from Crown Fountain!

Once we were through with Millennium Park, we walked past The Aqua Tower, designed by Jeanee Gang, to Lakeshore East where we had lunch, with a pleasant view of the city and the parks surrounding the area.

When we arrived back to studio, the students’ presented their collages and their neighborhood concepts. Afterwards, we demonstrated proper safety techniques with cutting materials and learning to read an architectural scale. We finished off the night in the dorms playing some games and waiting for the next adventure!
